OK let me know the bad news, have been driving my 5.0 NF like a d**k since putting on the new exhaust (yes still) downshifting the BTR as you come to corners / intersections, now, when I down shift it drops to 3rd but if I pull it back to 2nd it goes back to D! its changing up automatically by itself still but no more downshifts, could it be linkages /cable or worse news?

Wont be linkages.
Sounds like a d**k gear position switch. They do flog out and confuse the controler.

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=100835 i had a thread a little while ago. Mine was gradual then it just would only work in drive. It was the inhibitor switch.

Ah! Good old BTR inhibitor switch
Buy some electrical contact cleaner, pull it apart and give it a good clean.....will buy you some time till you can find a replacement Here's one I prepared earlier And leave the old girl alone....she's too big to be treated like that

Manually downshifting like that all the time will kill one of the clutches in the box, and you wont have any engine braking. Its a known weakness with them.
Be nice to it |

Have organised a new switch for it so we'll see how it goes, the gear selection indicator on the dash stops and starts now too!
