Hi just a noob question i recently had the engine swapped over in my eb falcon to a tickford xr6 motor. when i got the car back ive noticed it bangs into 2nd pretty hard and hangs onto 2nd alot longer than before. The trans was very smooth before the engine change.

Does anyone know what may be causing this im wondering if the ecu has an effect on it?? and is there any sort of adjustment that may make it better, anyway any insight on the problem would be helpful cheers.

Sounds like you lost some fluid during the change, check the dipstick :)

What model XR6 did the motor come from, did the ECU come with it? If it did try flicking the power button on... If the computer is from an EL the power switch is reversed in operation so power will be normal and normal will be power.

i had the same problem when i put the Tickford motor in mine. there are 2 TPS's on the log manifold. one for the engine. one for the auto. underneath the intake about halfway along is where the auto loom plugs into the TPS. i left that unplugged accidently, made my auto go haywire. have a look underneath the intake and look. bet you did the same thing

^^didn't realise any of the EBs came with that style loom?
thought it was just EAs...

it sounds like what the ECU does after you reset them and drive before it learns certain values like TPS.
is it the same transmission?
do you know if he replaced or changed any looms at all?

if the loom appears plugged in, check all the plugs and clean them with WD40 or similar.
might also be worth resetting the ECU following the correct procedure to see if it makes any difference.

if you have only one TPS you would notice other issues if it was faulty, so would be interesting to hear how you go either way.
