I have had hit and miss with MSD stuff. My Pro Billet 5.0 Dissy failed 3 times and was eventually binned. The MSD Coil i had was fine and never failed. I used the coil and dissy as a combo when i first started running NOS on the 5.0 as i was suffering spark blow out and wasnt keen to gap the plugs down anymore.

As for the MSD Dis type coils, I have had these for several years and had no issues whatsoever. I can recommend them, but i believe they are only necessary when you have an increase in compression, the stock coils are fine up to about 220rwkw in my experience. Again i replaced my coils due to spark blowout when on NOS.

Hell, I still use the original factory coil on my stroker. I don't believe I can yet justify the cost of a MSD / CRANE coil for that tiny bit of extra hp. I will when this original coil dies though.

The MSD DIS and Digital-6 ignitions are good. The analog ones aren't.
This stuff is very good....

I wouldnt touch it after my MSD coil incident.
Coil was 4 months old and dropped it guts in Victoria when on a road trip.
Had heaps of spark and tested fine until you added the compession to it to blow the spark out.
Only found it was the coil after getting a rental car to drive home , driving back to Melbourne the next night with a car trailer and towing the car back. Chucked an old second hand coil on I had laying in the garden in a fit of desperation and it started first hit.......................

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM my msd coil lasted 3 weeks, car wouldnt start in the drive way, threw on another one,i carry 2 in the boot after reading this.

What model of Crane would I be looking at for my LTD? The HI-6 or the HI-6S?

Are these systems OK to mount in the engine bay, or is it better to mount them in the cabin?

Either in the engine bay is best.

go to the summit site and use the 1993 mustang lx or 5ltr efi, summit is going to replace the coil, but i have changed my mind about msd coils---going to use the mallory29214 which supports 7000 rpm and 48000volts for a good kick in the guts--yours or the motor.
