I hooked up a hks turbo timer i done exactly as insturcted but when i turn the car off with the key it kills the car but the timer counts down. I hooked it up in between the key barrel and the connector plug. I used the solid yellow wire, yellow with blue trace and yellow with red trace. Is their a problem in the installation or is the timer itself stuffed??

You don't require a timer...

mate had the same prob with his el turbo he took it to a auto electrican i think u can by pass the smartlock for the ignition so when u turn it off it still runns and u can lock the doors and so on ,i think from memory his wasnt water cooled ba turbos and such dont use a timer as they are water cooled ,u only want it to idle it down, if u have been driving it hard any way check with your local auto elect to see if it worth getting it done properly...hope this info helps

You mustn't have it hooked up correctly. I has a HKS turbo timer on my ef. You only need to bypass smart lock if you want to use your remote to lock the car while it is running.
