Hey everyone. im kinda new so i got a whole lotta questions. I have an EA Series 1 Fairmont Ghia. I used to run my car at about 13-14 L/100Kms but now im running at the high 16-17L/100Kms. i dunno whats happening but fuel comsumption at the moment is killing me. Im planning on getting extractors, new cat and new 2.5 inch exhaust. would that help?
by the way sparks have been replaced. oil changed and oil filters. still gotta get new distributor and Sparkie leads. Also got a question about gear box conversions. i want change the 3 speed auto to a 4 speed auto but does this mean i have to change the computer or can the conversion be done easily by swapping the 3 for the 4 speed? thanks for ur help

These engines are super sencitive to oxy sensors. So if yours is no good then you fuel econ will be s**t and will get heeps worse. When I had an oxy sensor problem mine would get as high as 20l/100ks. Driving really easy I would get 17l+/100ks. If not the oxy then it may be coolant temp sensor. If it fails then it will be running rich all the time or lean when cold making it drive like s**t when cold. In your case the running rich problem. if you buy a Greggories manual then it tells you how to test all your sensors and do a diagnostic using the engine computer. From what I'v seen 14-15l/100ks as about right for day to day driving around town.
