Hey,
Can anyone tell me if there is any US model fords that run the same throttle body as The BA Boss engines. I want to buy a throttle body spacer but dont want to pay the ridiculous prices here. you can pick them up off E.bay in the US real cheap.

yeah, don't waste any of your money on a throttle spacer.

I've tried one, was worth nothing.

Yeah I dont see how a spacer could give you any more power. I Rang Herrod and asked about it and they said that adding the spacer helps to make the engine easier to tune. No extra rwkw. I just wonder if they do anything at all or just a gimmick. Is there anyone out there that has researched this before. What about phenolic spacers do they do anything as well.

I wouldn't bother with a phenolic spacer either. Keep the whole engine cooler, but running a cooler thermostat.

It's not like a Windsor where they run coolant through the intake manifold. The BOSS keeps the coolant seperate, and with high air flow, it doesn't get a chance to heat up much if any.

What mods do you have so far?
Best things to do first...

- CAI (BluePower airbox)
- Exhaust (DiFilipo 'Bog Boy' headers/cats/3" system)
- Tune to tie it all together.

then
- Oil pump upgrade
- Underdrive pulleys/balancer
- cams?

wouldn't worry about cams, cost not worth the gains, $6-$7k to make 20+ rwkw ???

save your money & do it once & make the power that your chasing a 290 motor with a s/c will get around the 400rwkw mark a 260 motor you will see around the 360rwkw mark & only with 8-9psi boost

& a credit to Chris as he would of spent countless hours datalogging & adjusting his tunes in getting 290rwkw & thats about all your going to get unopened

Joe,

Cams for the BOSSes have come down in price, and have improved. Looking 2-3k installed now, and they do get some good improvements - still no good on XR8's (they lack the static CR to be effective), but on 290's etc. are now a good option to get to the 300rwkw+ mark.

Crow's GTP and GTPX cams are showing good gains.
Herrod is doing some custom grinds, to be released in the near future.

Yeah, I guess Rob has some new ideas on the cam profiles.

Dunno what you get for your money, they haven't released any details yet.

I was looking at getting these for my 07 BF XR8, but my Herrod dealer here in Darwin reckons there's not really much point, not sure why....
