Hello,
My apologies if this is not the right section to place my topic, if so, could mods place it in correct section? Thanks. Problem. Took front passenger side wheel off to gain access to do a minor repair. When removing wheel I noticed the hub with 5 studs was slightly loose, that is, you can move it independently from the disc. Is this normal, or is it worn? If it is worn, what part does one renew and how do you remove it? My car is Ford Falcon AU Series II year 2000. Cheers |

Do you mean the studs are loose or the whole rotor wobbles around? If its the rotor wobbling around it is fine. Thats how AU 2s and up are now. The wheel holds the rotor in place once you tighten the nuts.

Thanks for your reply.
The wheel studs themselves are not loose, just the part that holds those studs on is a bit loose (rotor). when you play with the rotor to spin, the part which the wheel sits on cab be moved backwards and forwards independently of the rotor but not further than the stub hole locations that is. Just never experience this previously and as the drivers side is rigid I was not sure if the passenger side was faulty. Bit difficult to say if I have crook wheel bearings but I do experience some type of bearing noise especially on highway doing 100kph. hard to pinpoint where its coming from. |
