hey all i got a blown head gasket on my eb 5 speed (daily driver)
and i have my old eb fairmont in the back yard with a tight motor and new head is reassemble as simple as dissasemble should i pull the trans out at the same time do i need to?? also my fairmont has a tacho dash is that just unbolt un plug and fit or do i need to swap a loom thanks all

The engines will be the same. You could either swap over all the accessories or use the ones on the Fairmont engine. Are they both EB Series 2? I think there are some minor wiring differences between EB Series 1 & 2.
You could remove the gearbox with the engine. Just need to plug the end of the gearbox with a dummy yoke to stop the tranny fluid going everywhere. If the starter motor, alternator, etc are the same on both engines then engine wiring loom won't be a problem. Check the wire colours in both the engine looms to see if they match. With the Fairmont cluster, you'll have to run a wire from the coil to the plug for the cluster. I did the same thing for my car. Have you got a repair manual for the car?

finished the dash swap just now ..
the fairmont ghia cluster plugged strait into the falcon loom no dramas working tacho with no modification also what is a taxi dash coz my old dash had a sticker on it saying taxi pack ?? just curious

taxi dash just has fuk all but the basics? ie no tacho, and no oil pressure gauge? and possibly no voltage gauge?
