Got some weird electrical gremlins with Rach EF 'Mont. Out of the blue the trip comp will just reset, clock flashes set etc etc. We set it then bang, get in and it flashes set again. This time round the climate control decided to do weird things and then go blank. I just changed it out for another one with no difference, the replacement was blank too. During this saga of ign on, ign off the battery went flat. Tied into all this is the occasional hiccup when starting, will act like a flat battery, turn ign off and back on and it starts normally. So I am of the mind that something else is causing this. Oh, and I used to be able to bang the dash and the CC unit would come back to life, not this time however......
Now before anyone says "battery needs replacing", it is less than 2 years old and is still within warranty - sticker on it is 06/08/09. The alternator is charging, 16+V while running. Of course I would be happy to be proved wrong,... well not happy as it means more expense. I would rather not run off and get a new battery if it is something else. I am looking for suggestions as to what to look at next.... I hate wiring, bloody rats nest... Cheers RD

What is the exact voltage your alt is charging at?
16v is to high, should be 14.5v no more. You can damage the electrics in the car running the voltage to high.

That was actually a guess No idea, can't remember. Battery is out on charge right now, will look later when it can turn the engine over....
