Hi all i dont know if i am in the right area or not but here is my problem.
my mums EF just boring old GLi, the speedo seams to stick i was driving it the other day and i came up to the red light and came to a complete stop and the speedo needile was stuck on 40kph then it droped to 0kph. then on friday when i was i it again i noticed i was moving round the 20 - 30 kph and the needile was still on 0kph. CAn anyone come up to why this is happening. Thanks. (Soz bout the spelling)

yeh mines like that
except not (in a way) i will drive, i hit 30 and it will stick... get to about 50 and it will release and catch up with the car... i think it has stopped now? happened like week ago

im pretty sure its a fuc... broken needle mechanisim,
good reason to upgrade to a fairmont cluster

Most likely will be a sticking pointer - pull the needle and try a drop of light oil to free up the indicator bearings.
Although first put your cluster in diagnostic mode http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=12 , and check the digital speed follows the analogue pointer - if it's smooth and consistent, your analogue gauge is suspect, if it's intermittent and not giving smooth readings (just like the speedo), then you may have an issue with the speed sensor (or the connecting wiring) on the gearbox.

thanks heaps that was a great help. well i think that it is an intermittent problem. it all seemed to work fine though when i did it.
That is a cool thing that ford did. i like it. fords are so much better than holden together
