Hey guys,

I have an AUII here and i'm having problems with the aircon unit.
I was driving it today and i heard a loud whining noise so i pulled over and had a look under the bonnet and when the aircon is engaged sparks appear where the belt drives the unit.
any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

as above.

The compressor is siezed and the cluctch is slipping.
If you use it, the pulley will get hot, and when you stop, chances are you'll burn through the belt.

also if the compressor is stuffed, by not using it will lower the risk of broken ally swarf particles from the scroll entering the ac lines

If you plan on getting a second hand unit, make sure you take it to a professional aircon specialist so they can discharge the refrigerant.
