Hey Guys
All i am wanting to do is remove my rocker cover to put on a polished one, with this i am aware i will need to drain the oil, coolant etc, and take off other parts, but if i am just taking the rocker cover off , is it just the 4 bolts?
and then to reinstall all i need is to get some new ones from ford? do i need to use any glue/gasket material for the rocker cover?

Your talking like your doing a head...

When you do a head gasket you have to drain the water and replace the head bolts... The rocker is as easy as ash just mentioned... If your rubber currently doesn't leak it'll be fine, if it does leak then maybe a new one... Otherwise just some gasket sealer on it and you'll be set...

No need to drain oil, coolant etc, it's just a case of taking the old one off, and bolting the other one on.

Just remove anything that is in the way of it's removal, i.e. air intake piping, any hoses that are in the way (PCV and breather hoses, vacuum hose from the brake booster to vacuum junction), disconnect the throttle cable and cruise cable (where fitted) from the throttle lever on the throttlebody, unplug the spark plug leads (from the spark plug end obviously) and put them off to the intake side of the engine. Then undo the 4 bolts holding the rocker cover down and remove the rocker cover.

The rubber gasket can be re-used if still in good condition, sealant isn't needed really, but sometimes the rubber gaskets can be nuisance if they won't stay in the groove in the rocker cover. I have sometimes had to use a tiny bit of sealant in the groove so that the gasket sticks to it and doesn't fall out when you turn it over to fit it. Fairly straight forward job

hey guys i may be doing this also soon, i have heard there is a certain order in which to undo the bolts is this true?

If your removing the head then yes, but if your just doing whats been mentioned above (removing rocker cover) then it doesnt matter

Dont forget NOT to over tighten the rocker cover bolts.

You will wear out the gasket much quicker that way.

A very casual & light tension should be more than enough.

Re-Check it after 1 - 3 weeks of normal operation. If leaking any oil then tighten a little more
