I dont really wanna spend too much on sound but i was thinking to just buy a sub and amp and hook it up to the stock headunit.... And leave the speakers un-amped

What do u guys think???

dont get any ebay amps lol, my mates used to run ebay amps and they would work good but as soon as you turn the stereo on they heat up so much you cant touch them which isnt very good, when i say hot i mean almost fry an egg cook ya breakfast hot haha

I run a 2channel mtx amp with pioneer sub from a line level converter split off the back two channels in my mkI. I also have aftermarket 5x7's in the back but they don't make much measurable difference other than a bit clearer than standard.
Works well with the 60/40 rear seat folded down on the 40 side, turns the boot into a ported box lol

you don't need top of the line stuff just not bottom of the line like bry mentioned lol
