This would be an easier conversion than the dual throtlebody set up I've seen on the cast bbm, from memory I think the gain was around 18kw.The bbm was desined for 2v heads 15yr's ago!Does anyone know how the internals of the FG manifold work?I know the runner length is equal but not sure how the plenum chamber works

is that not the fg engine? didn't think the fg had the twin setup. Definitely looks like the fg manifold though

its definatly a fg motor, can tell by the rocker cover, and the plastic intake, but as far as i know no ford six has ever had a twin throttle setup... all the fg's ive seen dont have this.... makes me wonder how 3 smaller ones would perform

I'm surprised more / something hasn't been done by anyone about setting up dual TB (one small, one big) setup on the BBM.
Many years ago I saw an article where various single TB's and even an extensively engineered twin carb setup were dyno'd on a worked Holden V8 - the setup that won out - and by a BIG margin - was dual Group A TB setup - which is a small and large type of thing. BMW M3 uses a TB on each port - that's a 3.6 L straight six making something like 236KW...

That Group A VN TB setup was designed by Walkinshaw as part of the SV5000 Walkinshaw machine.
A lot of people don't realise it, but those engines were / are pretty much full house racing engines - built in England - fully blue printed and with some really tricky stuff like eccentric ring grooves (keep the pistons centred in the bores) and all sorts of other goodies - and the ECU has a jumper wire which when cut raises the rev limit to something like 8 grand - and the engine is built to take it. Unfortunatley, like any REAL performance engine it's made to rev and makes power above 3000rpm - so it's capabilities are lost on most meatheads who never go above 2500rpm. I laughed my a*** off a few years ago when I came across a youtube where some idiot had replaced the orignal "sluggish" Walky engine with some POS backyard fully sick moit holden 5 litre...

A friend of mine as one of those engines in his shed with two great big holes in the block with bits of conrod hanging out that proves they can not rev that high and stay together. |
