I've tried all 3 versions in my car.
Using the headphone socket results in a tinny crappy sound and needs the Ipod turned up to almost max to get a mediocre sound out. Using the line out on the Ipod needs the ICC turned up to almost full to get a decent sound, but it still too soft and underdriven. Both the above will usually induce bad engine noise into the sound signal. You need the amplified version turned up about half way to get a decent input into the ICC. Then you have a reasonable range of volume and sound control on the ICC. Plus the amplified version filters out all external noise from the sound signal. All you'll get with a 900w amp is 900w of s**t sound if you use a non amplified aux input. Only my opinion. But I've been there and done that. |
