Hi Guys.
I want to replace the water pump bolts on my new car. the two outside ones have corroded and been broken by previous owner. Does anyone know how long all 9 of the waterpump bolts are? My local ford wasnt able to tell me I know theyre 5/16, but know nothing else Nigel |

Well, there is a listing of sizes for the early F series with the 5ltr injected motor for bolt sizes.
1=5/16"x3.94"x18tpi 1=5/16"x2.70"x18tpi 2=5/16"x2.00"x18tpi 1=5/16"x3.09"x18tpi 1=5/16"x3.34"x18tpi 1=5/16"x5.00"x18tpi Studs 2=3/8"x16tpi-5/16"x3.50"x18tpi 1=3/8"x16tpi-5/16"x5.40"x18tpi 1=3/8"x16tpi-5/16"x6.60"x18tpi. -------------------------------------------------------- EB/ED/EF/EL 3=5/16"x1.50"x18tpi 1=5/16"x2.00"x18tpi 1=5/16"x3.00"x18tpi 2=5/16"x5.00"x24tpi studs: 1=3/8"x16tpi-5/16"x4.50"x18tpi 3=3/8"x16tpi-5/16"x5.40"x18tpi Last edited by Papa Smurf on Tue Jun 07, 2011 10:13 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

Thanks for the reply.
the E Series has the short water pump, and everything Ive read says the bolts are different (and there is only 9 of them?) Is there a seperate listing for it? Nigel |

All the bolts listed are for the F series, the EB/ED/EF/EL ones are similar.

I measured up my old ones from my EL. - these include the timing cover bolts.
4x 3.25" 1x 4" (which is actually a 5"stud with a fixed nut an inch from the end - the stud part isnt used and a 4" bolt is sufficient) 3x 2" 2x 2.25" 2x 1.25" 1x 4.25" I replaced them all with stainless bolts, I wouldnt bother with anything else. You will have to cut down ones to suit the quarter inch size (they didnt come in that size from where I bought them)

Underhead.
If people want ill dummy up the old waterpump and timing cover and work out which ones exactly are for the waterpump.

I need the whole shabang as my bolts have been in there since '93 and didn't enjoy coming out, in fact some decided to stay home. What did you replace the water pump/timing cover with? I've been looking at the FRPP timing cover/water pump kit to suit 94/95 mustang. For $us180 it's good bang for your buck, especially compared to local NZ prices. |

Hmm.
Heres a basic diagram with some estimated bolt sizes..... Using the bolt sizes from sturmovic (Confirmed sizes) you should be able to work this out.... Remember - work from "Bolt 9 is the one in between the two water outlets at the top left" (Below from http://forums.corral.net/forums/94-95-t ... ng-gt.html) Quote: Bolts Needed for Water Pump & Timing Cover
(All dimentions are based on 94-95 Stock Timing Cover & Summit Flow Kooler, after market Water Pump) (See my "Not so professional" , Water Pump, Bolt Location Diagram Below) (George W. Bush, Might describe my diagram as an, Improvise-um-ized Hemispheric Sketch-O-Gramatic Bolt Locationism) NOTE: Bolt in location #9 is between the 2 heater hose connections. I bought the waterpump locally, but got the timing cover from here. Make sure you grab a genuine Ford front seal while your at it, dont bother with an aftermarket one. http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/ite ... ming-Cover

After double checking, im not 100% sure about the sizing of the bottom left corner timing cover bolts.
Ive definately got a 2.25" that came out of that corner. But whether it came out of the corner or the one above it im not sure. For all I know Ford f**k up and it should be a 2". I dont recall it bottoming out. As for the wierd stud one, you could probably use a 4.25" bolt, as 4" looks a little short. Only 7/16" of thread comes through the back, where all the others have 1/2". But thats what was in mine.
