Hey Guys
I just bought an AU Fairmont (Series 1). I have noticed that when the car is cold, when i choose Reverse or drive the car does not seem to go into drive, it seems not fully sit in drive and rides on the clutch and the car does not move much. Have tried 1,2,3 and they do the same. After a few attempts of putting it in park and then back into drive it works. I have noticed that this mostly happens when the car has been standing for a while. Any ideas

If you do regular services on the car it lasts longer. For a $100 tranny service it will save you larger sums of money down the track. ghiaman |

If it feels like its taking off in 3rd gear it means its in limp mode, it will remain in 3rd even in 1,2,3 or D. if this is the prblem have the diagnostic done after checking fluid level. if fault 691 comes up its S1. S1 is the shift soleniod. If your not too good with cars i would advise you take it to a transmission place.

Yeah the Falcon Autos need a servicing every 20,000km which I found out a few weeks ago as I had done 78,000km without one. But I didn't have any issues with my Auto box and I only did as a preventative thing(save $2000 for new one) . Problem is you are probably going to need a major service if you havent had one already in the last 20,000km's which costs about $300. They flush the entire system though and after that you will only need a minor service which is around $100

take the car or the gearbox to geartorque in brisbane if you can limp it there
cost me $1500 for a full rebuild, plus $250 fitting inc oil http://www.geartorque.com.au/ |
