well if they are completely screwed i'd buy these until you have the cash to get decent brand ones. better than driving on unsafe shocks

20 years ago they were a pretty popular brand. Still reputable as far as I am aware. Definately not a s**t brand for sure. Another 50 bux and you could have got some short stroke Pedders GSR's though.

Quote: Gabriel VST shockies with King Low springs - excellent all round for ride AND handling - Variable Sensing Technology valving works marvellously - feels like active suspension where in corners the inside settles a bit whilst outside firms up - handling amazing - balance lovely. BUT - they crapped out in only 5000km. was going to just buy them by the carton and settle for changing them every few months but decided to try Bilsteins first (wasn't expecting much after the dismal failure of the much vaunted Konis). mite have to get some bilsteins when i get some cash and i have found these gabriel shocks pretty good in the corners but i only did the rear because they were the worst i need front ones to make the whole car handle better

Just thought id post up here the gabriel shocks are still going strong, I tightened up the bottom bolts as they were a little loose, still handling like a decent set of shocks would after 15000kms.

Good to hear! - Maybe the ones I had were a bad batch or Gabriel got their sh it together. I was annoyed at them because I emailed them about mine cr apping out - and asked if they had a heavier duty type - and they basically said stiff sh it VST's are as good as it gets - I basically said Americans must be pussies then.
In my case one rear one fell out in two pieces - other rear was almost as bad and both fronts were leaking oil - I was VERY annoyed because they had been handling great until they went bad. I think Brendan at JMM uses a performance type of Gabriels - at the time I was using them I thought the VST's were the only ones available for E series by Gabriel.
