My question is where is the CAS located and how do you get to it to check if its all corroded?

Behind the harmonic balance bolted to the crank case.
Undo 2 bolts using a 7mm quarter socket.
Make sure that the harmonic balancer hasen't moved back & is hiting the crank angle sensor.
If so you must replace balancer & is a good idea to replace the seal aswell.
If all good the crank sensor will come out from on top.
