go minimum.

The compression is already high enough, take off too much you'll ping and retard the cam timing a fraction.

yeah and if you have a problem with the headgasget in the future you dont wanna be buying a second hand head just to then get it shaved or fully reco'd because the other one is too shaved, you wanna just take yours off shave it minimum and drop it back on

High enough for what? Au motors are only 9.6:1, why retard the timing?

i think what he means is the timing will retard if you shave the head too much?

Cam timing will change as the distance between the cam and crank changes but I think it was meant to read ignition timing as the ECU alters it because of knocking.

if you keep good fuel up to it shouldnt that be enough to prvent knocking?? how high could compression really get by just decking the head when you have to allow for distance between the valves and piston with an aftermarket cam?? it would possibly raise to what, 10-10.5 max which the dedicated gas engines run anyway

would ya be able to allow for the retarded timing using adjustable cam gear??
