Hi Guys,
My sister bought herself an EF XR6 and it apparently had noisy lifters so she bought some new ones and replaced them. It still seems to be making the noise so I suggested changing the oil and using something decent. Her b/f told me that when he was putting in the lifters he noticed the cam had writing that had been scratched out and different writing written. Would this be a regrind? as that would explain the noise as there are no shims under the lifters. Any help would be great. Cheers |

was the writing on the front of the cam, where the sprocket goes ??

do you mean there was no shims at all or there were no extra shims
i mean std cams have 1 shim on each lifter and the regrind cams need the two |

The writing is between each lobe, the second one from the front and the last 2 have been scratched out and something different written.
And there are no shims as far as I know, I'll get them to double check it but. |

And there are no shims as far as I know, I'll get them to double check it but. If there weren't any shims in there in the first place...that would have been the problem in the first place. As mentioned above...one shim in each rocker arm is stock, 2 shims per rocker arm usually means regrind...in saying that, a single thicker single shim can also make up for 2 stock thick shims.
