I got a quote from tint-a-car once for 500 bucks (EL Falcon, but should be similar). Best bet is to give them a call, but also check the yellow pages/google a bit as there are many tint places in Perth.
Good thing about tint-a-car (i am not promoting them at all, just in case you are wondering) give you warranty on the work/tint (please dont pin me down on the details). Other places might also, but better check. Messing around with doing it yourself can be a huge pain in the a*** plus you need some practice and 100% clean windows. I would not even think of doing it myself, especially if you think about bubbles, peeling ect. See that you get a paper from them stating its legal as well as the coppers like to yellow sticker you if they only even think its too dark and you have no proof it isnt... Good luck mate! |

There are all different types of grading in relation to the amount of light that is allowed in. First off, check out the W.A. road rules to find out what the maximum is allowed. If you go out and tint darker than what is permissible then you leave yourself open for the authorities to ping you.
I rang around a few tinters and got info then prices and I even checked out the local shopping centre one Saturday morning. I saw a few cars that had good looking tint and I even approached one guy with a FG XR6. He was really good and gave me the name of a mobile tinter in my area. It turned out that the tinter was the son of a work mate. He did my Ute and I am happy with the job. It only cost $170 all up and it was not a discount job. I agreed to the price before realsing who he was. Check them out first before committing as some of the jobs that I have seen have been rubbish. My old '62 Fairlane was done shortly after I purchased it and it was still perfect 17 years later when I sold it. My daughters car had tinting on it for 3 years and it just bubbled up and was crap. Luckily a 4WD drove over the front of it and she had it written off. Cheers. |

Best is that when I asked for the rear window only they (tint-a-car) quoted me 200 dollars, and a mobile tinter 170... Still near what you mentioned, instead only for the rear window! I took venatians instead I am not sure whether we pay more (we overpay basically everything here) in WA, but most of times I notice stuff's heaps cheaper over east. |
