Hi,
I am posting this one on behalf of my Dad. He has a very clean BF Mk2 XR6 Turbo. It is a 6 speed AUTO with the only mods being: - K&N Panel Filter - BF F6 Intercooler connected to all the factory piping - BF GT wheels (which look great with the ego paint!) Now he is keen to get a tune done. Just to clarify he is not chasing big power or 1/4mile times. His want is to get the auto shift points returned and get more torque and a bit more fun out of the drive. He is not chasing monstor power. I just thougt that might be useful information when I ask the next question. He has been told that very quickly do you reach the point where you need a new fuel pump and injectors in the car. What we are wondering is what kind of results can be expected with just a tune to make the most out of the currect setup? What is he likely to gain in the way of drveability and performance? What does a tune generally cost? Is it worth putting any other supporting mods in like a larger cat? Very keen back to hear from people with experience that have gone down this path on an auto BF2. Thanks in advance! |

If he's not after big power a tune only might be enough for him?
But i'd recommend atleast injectors aswell.. My BA made 280rwkw with valve springs (normally not needed in BF) injectors, F6 cooler and a tune. After that get a high flow cat, a fuel pump isn't desperately needed but up to you. I've been running 325rwkw on the stocker for 30,000km+.

Yeah he is chasing more drivabilit yand torque, not so much the numbers. What results did you get out of the tune from a drivability, torque and on road performance compared with stock? is yours auto?
thanks! |

i might be able to help..
Breeze MK11 BF XR6 TURBO.. ZF 6 spd AUTO.. Stock.. 13.3 on xr 17s.. (on original rims) Then flashed using the X-cal 3 flasher.. 225rwkw before,, 250RWKW after.. But much more low and mid range punch.. doesnt use any more fuel.. Did a 12.8 quater mile on staggered 20 inch rims!!!! High flow cat.. 3 quater tank of premium. no spare tyre in the boot. Selected the 10PSi 98 Ron fuel tune.. 7 mins and was all done.. |

wow, very impressive. Did you find the high flow cat made much of a difference? did you need a retune for the cat? Very impressive results, sounds like your thrilled with yours!

Best $500 i have ever spent..
Didnt notice much difference with the high flow cat.. Has much more down low.. great on half throttle (steam train torque) and a great shove over 2500 rpm when on full throttle.. |

Lol the cat is the restriction in the exhaust, followed by the dump pipe then the catback.
Mine was auto but these days its manual.. It should drive very much the same as stock just heaps more torque and power I'd also recommend a proper dyno tune rather than just a generic tune.
