Stripped as in the gear or is there an issue with the Dizzy?

hay mate. i've had the same prob with my ef xr6 a few times. u might be able to change the cam angle sensor(looks lik a dizzy without the top) and flush the motor. but check the aux shaft to see if thats trashed. if it is u gotta pull all the bolt ons off and the timing cover and chain and change the aux shaft. when u get a new or second hand cam angle sensor check for up and down play cos that the main corse of the prob. if its got to much play it will jam when spinning and strip the gears. i've had this prob a few times and if it just the sensor it a 10min job plus engine flush. if the aux shaft is boned then it's a big job. pays to do ur timing chain at the same time.
hope that helps

i recently got my block bored and honed, and we found that the aux shaft was striped so i had to replace it, but in doing that you have to replace the dizzy shaft, or get a new dizzy as the problem will occur again,

u don't gotta pull the motor just pull the thermos and rad out. and thats only to get clearance to get a puller on the crank pully to get it off

quick tip get a rare earth magnet and wack it on ur sump on the out side near where the oil pick up is. to grab any lose bits of metel that don't get flushed out. u can do the aux shaft in a day if u are any good with a spanner and hit it hard

i would check the oil when you drain it out to see ho much metal is in it, as any metal shavings have also now been circulated through your oil pump and fine particles will have also been pumped through the rest of the engine.
