Ran over a fox or similar animal this morning in the XG. One down side of owning a lowered vehicle, is they don't like wild life. Cosmetically she seems to have survived, apart from the blood, meat and foul smell...
However I have jacked her up and found the sump has worn some hurt. I now am wondering if I need to replace it, or is there a fair amount of room in these things and I should be able to get away with it? There is no knocking or other un-usual sounds. IMAG0263 IMAG0266 |

That's fine, as long as it's not leaking. You can replace it, but it's a pain in the a*** to do.
I've got dents all over my sump, just means it doesn't look pretty and oil level sits a little higher than normal...by like 1mm or something on the dip stick. For some reason however, I don't think that dent of yours was from an animal. Looks like you went over a hump too quickly and slapped the pan on something.

That damage looks like it happened ages ago

There was some damage around the sump plug that looked like the plug had been "pulled in."
I can't say that I had noticed this before, nor can I recall anything that would have caused it. But at the end of the day, if the concensus is that its fine, then I am happy. |

1. it looks as if youve been driving with that damage for a awhile before the fox exploded under it
2. my sump was alot more caved in than that after a stupid placement of trolley jack, and it was and is still running fine |

f**k that little 'fox' put a dent in the sump that is the same shape as the lifting pad on a trolley jack.

By the looks of the scrape marks I'd say that the jack slipped off the K-Frame and landed on the sump.

IIRC, the oil pickup is towards the front of the sump, so it shoudl be ok

my sump was pushed up about 50mm in the centre and lasted all day on the limiter at skidpan!

keep an eye on oil pressure as im pretty sure i read someware pickup to sump clearance has to be optimal or something
