Coolant leak near the alternator. Is this a common fault on Falcon AUII? A DIY job?

DIY job, just replace the o-ring where the pipe goes into the back of the water pump...

looks like its squirting out to me.
is it leaking around 10mm away from the pump only? If so, ford have an adaptor pipe where you can cut the existing pipe and place the new part in iirc.

That adaptor pipe is actually a spacer which is tapped into the end of the heater pipe to solve problems with leaks at the back of the water pump. To repair your problem you will need to replace the pipe or you could try silver solder etc over the hole. The corrosion looks bad and the pipe will probably be stuffed all the way behind the engine to the heater box pipes.
