I have just clocked up 16000k in 6 weeks in my dedicated gas FG ute (tray) touring around Auz, I had no real trouble at all, you just have to fill up when you see a servo incase the next one has none OR in some cases the pumps were downprices got to $1.48 but most were just either side of $1.00, the larger towns were more or less the same as Melbourne.
Consumption was a bit high at 16.8 to the 100 but I have a large canopy on the back of my tray, my last ute was a V8 and usage was not that high even with a poptop on the back. I must say the ute (30k when I left) went without a hickupp, I cannot fault it to drive, overtaking it was very powerfull even after the V8 i had. It was explained to me that it costs $100.000 to install the gas pumps, and the amount of vehicles on full gas is not that high, so it takes a bit to get the return on investment. |

When I was over in the west back in 2009, we visited Esperance. Made it from Albany on one tank with 200k to go. Trouble was the town was nearly out of gas and we were lucky to find a servo with some still left. Otherwise we would have been stuck there over the weekend till the next delivery on the Monday.
