Hi guys Have a BF XR8, would like better high beam without compromising looks with driving lights, My question is Do BF XR headlights fade or melt with higher wattage globes say 55/100W?
My previous EF Fairmonts where not effected by higher wattage globes. Already have HIDs in the inner high beam lamps but need more distance, also want to keep My Low beams Legal and non distractiong to oncoming drivers so NO HIDs in the High Low H4s.

There is a recommended wattage for particular cars, best to go for that And FYI, i get about 700 metres distance on my high beams, and only using H3 55W Phillips Xtreme globes. Maybe you need to readjust Nothing wrong with the adjust ment I adjusted them a while ago, EF/EL XR lamp are a different to B series XR lights your inner H3s are used for distance while the BF uses the H4 for distance.

I wouldnt be putting higher wattage bulbs in them. They will melt.
Get some Brand name 'plus' bulbs. Narva, philips, osram, etc. |

Thanks for thlink Mitch_ seems everyone who dosent have them advises against it and anyone who has done it hasent had a problem. I think I will risk. Have already got decent osram globes in there but going to go Hella premium 55/100W. I done a globe comparo and posted up pictures years ago, a plus 50 globe is not too much better than a Osram bilux. Didnt do hella premium tho.
As a comparison purchased a set of Hella platinum globes which are better than the Plus range, put them in my 08 patrol with very marginal improvemnt to the existing osram Bilux, not worth the money I paid, Put the globes into my EF Ghia replacing the existing osram bilux. massive improvment! Seems the premium globes benifit Older reflectors not free form type.
