Hi there members,

Just wanting any info in doing a 351 conversion to my 1985 XF GHIA.

At the moment its a efi six cylinder running a 4 speed single rail.

i want to run air con and power steering also off the xf

what i have is a standard 351 cleveland carby out of f100 and a 5 speed manual out of a eb-ed 5 litre. ( actually i have a complete ed v8 car to use parts from)

the reason i got the 5 speed is because its cable clutch like my 4 speed. And with hopefully little work, i should get it fitting in.

What i have been told is that 5 speed should go right in and fit to the 351. even though the starter motor is on the other side on the 5 speed

I need someone that has done a conversion like this to tell me what else needs modifying..

eg do i need v8 pedal box, heater hoses, clutch cable mods, power steering brackets and air con brackets mods, tailshaft, digital dash tacho recalibrating

Hope im in the right Thread..

any info will be muchly appreciated as im trying to get this project ready for ALL FORD DAY.

The car was bought from Victoria and shipped here approx 2 months ago. I took it over the pits here and it went straight over with no probs and licensed. Being a 1985 model it didn't have cats. So I reckon I will be safe. The 85 models were leaded and efi.

What I was told to do is find a 351 from the same year (85) and you should be right. So that's why I went the f 100 motor.

Oh well we can only try. If they don't like it, then I will just straight gas it.
