I was looking at some pics of some injected windsor motors on some american cars, and it seems some of them have the throttle body turned 90 degrees compared to our aussie windsors, I am wondering if doing this would give any benifet, maybe due to being able to run a STRAIGHT air intake.

I take it you are referring to the Explorer 5.0 which, had the elbow because the engine bay was so tight. In fact it is a restriction to performance.

That's the peice I was referring to, so what's the reason it causes a restriction? does it have a small internal diameter? does it create turbulence? If you machined one up with a nice big internal diameter, and really smooth inside, would it be of benifet if you made a straight intake?

It's restriction because it's a 90 degree bend and it certainly creates turbulence, it also has EGR built in which, is not a rstriction in itself.
Better off putting the t-body straight on the intake. |
