Hey Everyone

was talking to a mate (certified mechanic by trade)
and he says its easy as piss to turn a normal borg warner into a LSD just need a LSD center
i ask as according my my math with my wheels and diff ratio 3.23:1 thats perfect for the t56 thats going to be going in i should be able to go anywere around town at 1000-1100rpm and keep perfect speed :) and only need to go to 1400-1550 RPM for high way at 3.23 with my wheels so i want to keep this ratio it seems to be magic

from what i could find in search and google its 28spline am i correct ?

Yes it is 28 spline. Bump the cruise revs up to 1900-2000rpm or be prepared to rebuild the T56. Low cruise revs causes Mainshaft bearings to flog out.

bugger was thinking yep going to have power and fuel economy...that sucks
thanks for the heads up
how long would the mainshaft bearing last at low revs ?

someone correct me if im wrong but the motor is most effecient where it makes peak torque

labouring the motor @ 1000rpms is not going to help things

The stock EL Single spinner diff housing is different to the LSD (EL XR diff). I dont think you can put a LSD centre in a stock EL diff.

idk if it means anything but its not stock falcon its a fairlane/wagon diff i dont think they changed the housing as 3.23:1 LSD & non LSD's exist from factory

just a rough estimate like does it ruin it in 2 hours or like 4yrs ?

and if i cant get the motor to run at such low RPMs like i hoped ill just run a 3.45:1 as this will bring in town RPM's to current level they are now stock and bring highway to 1500-1700RPM (stock RPM again)

I'm pretty certain only difference between single spinner and LSD housings are the XR's had 3 holes for the upper trailing arm, meaning you can adjust the pinion angle. All the axles are 28 spline. LSD will fit but if you want to change ratio's you might as well source a full XR6 LSD and just bolt it in.

Not sure how long a single spinner pinion seal will last with LSD oil - they are made of different material. Best check this out with a transmission/diff place.
