hey guys urgent help is needed.. my ba is failing to lock the front passenger side. is there anyway of testing to see if the mechanism is f*#ked or could it be more simple? any input would be much appreciated

hey mate, had similar hassles with my au, dont know if the central locking system is the samefrom the au to the ba though. what happened in mine, is inside the locking unit behind the door latch, theres a cog connected to a splined spindle. the motor makes the spindle turn, which locks the door. that cog and spindle is made of plastic, and snapped of at the base of spindle, so the cog turned and but didnt lock the door. you can either take the unit out, open it up and glue it back together, or buy a replacement actuator from either ford or a wreckers. very simple to install, take door skin off, undo a series of screws new one in reverse procedure. hope this helps

the locks between the BA 1 and AU's are the same. I have had the same problem with my ba many times. Gotta replace the door lock the gears inside are screwed.
Ford apparently have now made stronger one's but you have to buy an adaptor for them.

alternatively there are remade one's on ebay which i will be getting soon.

Is there a trick to this? When I took mine out it exploded everywhere due to the springs so I didn't get a good look at how it came out. Now I'm having trouble getting the cog back in. I've got the cog, the metal washer and the plastic one, along with two springs, am I missing a part or something?

My god I got it after about 2 hours playing around. Persistence is the key.

Dont f**k around just take it stright to ford they will fix it in under an hour, well i would anyway..
