also if you have issues with fitting the bbm or dont want to?

you can still use the log with the xh tensioner on the serpentine, and you can also use the el ecu with the log manifold aswell..
that way you get a higher rev limit.. and you will get good results with the el ecu with the log manifold you just advance the ignition timing a bit more than you would with the std ecu... :)

IIRC someone on here did say the BBM won't clear the XG bonnet.Hopefully someone can confirm or deny this.

Since you actually did this to an AU motor, maybe i should withdraw my concerns about the timing.

With my EL and log the engine only runs a bit rough when idling cold, and only pings very mildly and very occasionally (once so far) under extreme circumstances, and i get 11L/100kms which i think is decent under the circumstances.

just a quick note on progress to xg. bought xh tensioner, fits no worries. next task belt, lucky enough to have a few mates cars as donors for size. after several attempts size for conversion is 6PK2440, at least in my case. next was set up of dizzy as per workshop manual, fit radiator, air box,few checks here and there.turned key xg come to life. after few minutes set timing, all seemed good but noticed oil leak from s/h p/s pump and water leak from thermostat housing. end of conversion is near.take chance to thank contributors for great info and interest.hope to help if possible in future. thanks

Had the sump cut and welded to clear the swaybar. This is a great conversion for XG's, you'll love the difference.

i can second that. nice improvement to performance and steering is a fair bit lighter with the serpentine belt. i couldnt get the sump cut in time before the conversion so my sway bar is resting on the front of the sump. im trying to work out a way to fit some small spacers for sway bar clearence

The header tank is still in original position, i replaced original hoses for the heater and thermostat pipe with some i made up. By having no curves in the hose from the header tank you can reduce down to 19mm from 25mm lower than the BBM. All my connections were from BCF and made from poly, nice and cheap. They have reducers and joiners while the hoses came from any spares shop. Battery is in original place as is the airbox. :) :)

I use the air box in reverse the opening from the lid to the throttle body and use the bottom opening to draw fresh air from under the front of the car. I'll try and get some photos up tomorrow. Should mention i flipped the filter over for this.
