my wifes 2003 ba xt seems to be a bit of a lemon, the doors wont lock, if i try to lock it it beeps 3 times and unlocks itself, i took it to 5 auto elecs and no one has seen it before, 1 auto elec and 35 hours later they cant fix it, advised me that they have tested all the wires even something to do with the loom as per vacc tech advise page 2221 and even bought another locking mechanism and tried it on all 4 doors with no success. said from what he can tell the body modulator (computer) is stuffed and it has something to do with the interior light. he even got vacc to tell him how to reset the interior light, and that looked like it was going to work but didnt. so he put it back together and told me to take it to ford. does anyone have any ideas. because all of the people in the industry that my mechanic, and the auto elecs that i spoke to have never heard of this and never ever seen it happen. second to this and not sure if its related, she can only run 98 petrol in the car or it cuts out when she turns corners, ( i know i didnt believe her either until i saw it with my own eyes) and lastly again not sure if related, the airconditioner works but the heater stopped working. i was told 2 different things about the airconditioning. 1 was that it was the flap under the dash is plastic and probably broke, which apparenlty costs about 800 to fix and the other is that its 2 dif parts that cost 400 for one and 1000 for the other with 1000 - labour ( i am not spending 2400 to fix a heater) oh and the cd player scratches and jumps the cd's dimister does not work.
any ideas would be useful

is it the central locking actuators fukin up?.. mm this sounds like a hard one.

How long have you had it? do you know if it was local and not just a local dealer, hehe it couldn't have been through the floods and bodged up? because just sounds f**k. is it the 6 stacker or standard single disc player, demist the front or rear that doesn't work, rear maybe have a fiddle with the wires , I've had ef's where the wires were broken off, probably already checked just sounds a bit f**k, if you haven't only it long I'd be curious about it's history due to so much recent flooding.

Does the interior dome light stay lit when you're in the car? If so, it could be one of the closed door sensor switches, which makes the car think it's open. Dad's Avalon honks the horn and flashes when one of the doors is still open.

no the interior light only goes on when you push the button on the dash. or press the remote control button to unlock the car. (on the odd occasions it does lock) otherwise no light when the doors are opened (as it used to).

not yet. best case scenario is its the body control module messing with everything.
so have to book it in to a ford dealer apparently they are the only ones with the computer to be able to reprogram the new body control module. unfortunatley i'm not to fond of ford dealers.
and i am trying to locate one with a reasonable reputation for good work.

sounds like the body control module is stuffed. Had to fix that problem a few times.
