Just putting the question out there....

I have a Mandarin MkII xr8, and the paint is "breaking down", as the reps have put it.

Has anyone heard of this before, apparently there were a few known issues of this happening in Granville I was told that one smash repairs had 2 cars in there, both with the same problem. The paint cant be matched properly and the only solution is to respray the whole car.

Ive only just recently bought the car and the previous owner ripped down the front guard with the tyre, the dealer that i bought the car off is getting it "fixed" at a local smash repairs but its been going on for nearly 2 months now and they cant get the color right, more pink then orange.

This is his 2nd attempt at fixing it and its been there for nearly 3 weeks.

At the moment the cars sitting in the sun covered in mud and masking tape remnants, no happy with that either. :x

Any advice and or information would be great, I just want my car back

Which Panel Beater? what dealer? Have you gone to the dealer and asked them why it is taking so long? Have you told the dealer that you will contact the MTA?
If you get no joy, contact http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/default.html they are pretty good at following up complaints.

I spoke to our Service guys and they have NEVER heard of this problem with your colour.

MJM Smash Repairs at Tuggerah, I got the car from Central Coast Holden, it seems neither of them want to accept responsiblity, the "painters" only got a rep out on tuesday, a real one this time not like the imaginary ones that hes had out to look at it before....... its doing my head in.

I have lodged a complaint with Fair Trading and also have the enquiry forms for the MTA.

Thanks Papa Smurf, i just dont know what to do, bit sick of being treated like a mushroom, Im waiting for a letter from Autolac stating the diagnosis, will let u know what it says

Sometimes people think if they stuff customers around long enough that they won't pursue the matter and give up. I hope you can get something concrete done.
BTW, the panel beater isn't one of our customers.

Wow dawnie, that's one hell of a colour difference. Hit them hard and hit them where it hurts...only way to get something happening with companies like that.

It doesnt seem to be that easy for this painter Dave!!

This is their second attempt at trying to paint it, what started out as a 7cm chip is now turned into a freaking nightmare, he should of just manned up and say hey we cant do this.

The paint is fine, hes also tried to tell me that the door handles and bumpers are a different color cos they were painted in a different facility, thats not his problem, getting my car back to mandarin and not peach is all he should be concerned with.
