I have a 2000 ford festiva trio s. The car stalls when idle at the lights or intersection. At first, I thought it was to do with a hot day. But I could drive to work the next day without the car stalling. but again the next day, it did it again... no leaking, no sputtering... just dies... and then i can restart in 5 minutes...but this is so embarrassing and dangerous on highways.....there's no "check engine" light popping up.....(does this car even have this light???) i dont know what to do..
I called Lube mobile and they could not find the problem. I took it to Ultra tune and still they could not find the problem. any ideas would be very helpful.. |

Hey,
I would check the obvious..... Battery terminals. Coil connections. Coil lead. Ignition switch. Could be the simplest thing, most overlooked.... Good luck with it Daz

Take it to a work shop wich have and know how to use diagnostic tools. You will find what's the problem in no time. I can't stress the "know how to use them" part enough.

I don't know anything about cars but I had the same symptoms and it was the fast idle solenoid that was stuffed. If the newer cars have them, put power on that and make sure it works

The Festiva has a fairly useless self diagnostic ability. Even so there are alot of faults that will log a code but not bring on the check light. Also being an intermittent problem it may not actually be all that easy to find. |

If Its a 2000 model it'll tell you alot, although it sounds like the car needs a intake manifold clean and the isc iac whatever it has checked.
