We have an Shockwave Blue 05 BA MKII Futura and I have noticed little bits flaking off when washing it... nothing the size of a 5c piece though (maybe 1/3rd the size).. and I thought it was just me washing it too hard as well... how much would need to flake for it to get fixed out of warranty?

Maybe not. Best see a Ford Dealer, and push the point it's a known fault. They should fix it even out of warranty.

It's for Shockwave only, so no AU's

did anyone else notice in that article (written on november 1st) she noticed an issue with the paint about 18 months ago. that makes it first noticed about May 2009. however it took until sometime 'earlier this year' for her to talk to ford. so it took a minimum of 7 months from first noticing till when she got pro-active?

yeah i assume because she'd discovered the internet and seen it was a common problem/manufacturing fault, and not just a single case

i always assumed the late AU's could be optioned with shockwave as ive seen a quite a few getting around, but obviously theyre resprays

I'm a windscreen fitter and the amount of shockwave ba's and f's glass removal we do is phenomenal, if you have a s**t windscreen getting them out they sometimes break so you get a free genuine ford one :) the same for rears too
