OK, so when the timing cover came off, 50% of the gasket came with it, the other half is stuck to the block. Seems after 10years of service, it's pretty keen on staying there.
What product do you guys recommend for removing crusty old gasket from cast iron blocks? I've got a good scraping tool and some wet/dry for afterwards, just need some recommendations for solvent/whatever to lossen it up. Cheers

CRC gasket remover, it works never used annything else.

Yep the gasket remover is great stuff but try not to get any into the engine itself. The timing cover gasket is just paper so it should come off with a sharp stanley knife too.

mm used a drill with a sanding disk on it to get the gasket off my bike

Awesome tips guys.
Yeah i figure the gasket is pretty thin, but wanna soften it up as much as possible, need to make sure none of the crud gets into the timing chains/engine...
