Hey guys,
Recently did an overhaul of the cooling system, all new hoses ect ect. Ran tektaloy coolant flush for 15mins at high rpm, then dumped it filled again with water and drove for 30ishkm dumped that, then I put tektaloy orange in at a 50/50 mix. When I got the coolant I wasnt aware it was an organic coolant I just asked for the best :/ Now the coolant has turned clear... :S Is there any issues with running this coolant in these engines if flushing is done well? Could this be caused by a small amount of green coolant left in the system even after 2 full flushes... I really dont want to have to dump $60 in coolant and I have another 5l bottle spare that will become useless too

Do you mean clear as in looks like water? or more of a white color like the rad flush?

mixing 50/50 the glycols probably escaped through the hoses... (sarcasm) Is it anti-freeze or just an inhibitor ? Theres no real need for antifreezeacross 80% of Australia unless you live in the snow. Glycol actually retards the coolants ability to transfer heat.
I use preston 'yellow' coolant which almost looks green when you pour it, yellow when it's in there and runs clear after a while but mixes with any coolant. The only real way to know the mix is to use a glycol meter, most radiator specialists will do this for free I understand.

Its a antifreeze/antiboil +inhibitor concentrate. supposed to last 5 years or 300,000kms i think
There arnt any radiator specialists around here that I know of..

I think generic auto parts stores sell them. I think they're only a hydrometer anyway but not sure. The radiator cap raises the boiling point. water at atmospheric pressure will boil at 100degrees, the same volume of water at 15psi won't boil untill about 110degrees? or something like that. If everything is running as it should you shouldn't need glycol unless you're coolants freezing, it was banned from race tracks for a reason, it's terrible stuff.
Ford's specify around a 30% mix anyway not 50% iirc. I bought an ef head once and the top radiator hose spout that sits over the thermostat was worn away to around .5mm wall thickness & disintegrated upon removal. Furthur investigation showed there was plenty more where that came from, from running the wrong coolant, alluminium is a b**ch for that.

all you need is a good mechanic they will have a tester ....or go to repco or similar to get some castrol coolant test strips they will tell u every thing u need to know about your coolant

According to both workshop manuals I have the recommended coolant is a 50/50 glycol-inhibitor to water mix...
Thats Gregory's and Haynes. Will do, ill head to repco this afternoon.
