Hey, I've managed to snap off 3 intake manifold bolts off in BOTH cylinder heads of my car, wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to get em out?, otherwise there's a case of beer in it for anyone that can get em out.

get yourself a set of easy-outs. BTW, I drink Crownies.

Can I ask, how the f**k did you manage to achieve 3!! broken off manifold bolts, I've been doing them for years never broken a single one.

I only put a spanner on them, they snapped almost immediatley without much force, they were corroded and rusty and f**k.

Bet they were the corner bolts. They often cause trouble. The gasket doesn't quite seal perfectly around the water passage and over time the bolt gets wet, then electrolysis starts. I've got a lower manifold with a sheared off bolt shaft in it that I couldn't even drive out with a punch and 2kg engineers hammer. Nothing holding it in there except corrosion, but it won't budge.

I've never had much success with easy-outs on those bolts. Drill them out with a really sharp drill bit a bit smaller than the bolt, but be careful as the cast iron head is softer than the bolt. So get the angle right or you will drill into the head itself.

In future when you shear 1 off, try a different tactic on the next one. Rocking gently often works, and a little heat on the head around the bolt hole.

Yeah they were the corner bolts. They looked pretty rusty, I am gonna get a stud extractor and try that, otherwise, I think i'll eithier be calling the thread doctor out, or I'll just bite the bullet and get a set of GT40P's lol.

I had the exact same problem recently Gab. with the intake off there was about 1/4 of bolt sticking out of the head...I welded a coupla bolts to the bits left sticking out and they came out easy. Of course this doesnt help if they snapped off flush with the head.

there's only like 2mm sticking out, not sure if I could weld to it, but I might give it a go.
