Hi. Welcome to Fordmods.

Firstly, please use punctuation and correct grammar. If you would like peoples help, they are more likely to offer that help if they can read and understand your request.

The yellow box is the Smartlock Module. In most of the cars this box is a red/orange colour, however I have found the yellow box in a couple of late EDs. The blue box is the BCM (Body Control Module). The blue colour indicates it is for a Futura/XR spec car, which is normal for your Sprint.

Next question. I have an eb series 2 fairmont ghia wiring harness that goes underneath the dash. It has the fuse box on it and stuff. I was wondering while my dashpad is out while putting climate control in, would that wiring harness fit and would it work in the xr8? I wanted to change it so all the plugs and wires were there for climate control. Also i have a red and green box thingys out of same car. Are any of them the high series bem and could i put it in to mine? Does any one know what they are for? Also the eb was a 6 cyl

The under dash wiring in regards to the instruments, climate control and cruise control 'should' be able to be used in your car. I won't guarantee it will just plug in and work. You may have to do some cross checking of wiring etc to ensure it will function as it is designed to. I have found that Ford likes to use different looms and plugs in the various models and this can be interesting to diagnose when completing these sorts of mods.

The red box is the smartlock module, and the green box is the Fairmont spec BCM. Unfortunately, you can't just plug in the green BCM and replace your blue BCM as the wiring won't match up.

The tech docs are found by clicking on the 'Resources' link at the top of the page. Then scroll down and find the required doc. While the Climate Control tech doc is from and EF/EL the principle is the same.

Regarding cruise control, the EA-ED cruise setup is a nightmare. It is part vacuum and part electronic, has multiple components, and when it fails, is rather difficult to fix. I installed the EF/EL cruise in my EB sedan, and again in my EB wagon. Being self contained in one component and completely electronic it performs much better and is reliable. There is a fair bit of custom wiring etc to make it work, but is doable.

Good luck on your projects.

Cheers
BenJ

Thank you very much for the help and tips.

So really when i do the climate control and power windows i wont need to change the Bem to a high series one if i did want to change it would i gain any thing from doing it and that wiring harness out of the fairmont also goes with that green Bcm would that make it easter if i put it in.

With the power windows if i take the wiring out of the eb fairmont will all the wires just plug into my ed xr8 harness.

Lastly my smartlock plays up and i need to tap the dashboard to get it to start would that red smartlock module be able to be swapped with the yellow one.

thanks

No problem.

Correct. Looking at the wiring diagrams, the Climate Control system is not connected to the BCM. Provided you connect all the components up correctly, it should in theory operate regardless of the BCM specification.

My suggestion is to lift the power window loom out of the EB Fairmont from the main switch loom and out to each door as a stand alone piece. Lay it in the sprint and instead of running it through the fuse box, power the windows from permanent 12v with a separate fuse. This way you can operate the windows even when the key is not in the ignition. Once the floor loom is in, you can then add the door looms to the sprint and plug them in.

I am not entirely sure as to why they are a different colour. You could certainly give it a go, and then attempt to run the reset protocol and then train your remotes. If it works, great, if not then either the replacement red unit is also not working, or you may need to find a yellow one.

Cheers
