Hi Guys
I am hoping for some advice on the modification of this mixer. The engine is a strong 427 in a van. Mixer- sprintgas new generation. What height should the mixer plate be set of the base.? Should the underside be modified to take 2 feed lines.-stock has only one input? Does the inside diameter of the ghann hose play a roll in the vacuum pull- whats the recommended diameter? I am sorry about all the questions but I have been to 4 lpg installers without any luck- just guesses and wasted time and money. Any help appreciated. thanks |

I've got the new heights at work, I'll let you know on monday and yes two vapour feeds

the gap should be 4mm, (use a 4mm drill bit a 'feeler gauge')
You might need to play around with it a bit to find what your engine likes, but thats a good starting point. |

Thanks- The initial setting was 2mm-but ran out of gas up the rev range- then I have it set up at 4.5mm- I have found that it gives the convertor a very low vac signal to draw on. My thinking would be to go to 2 feed lines with larger inside diameter hose and fittings- thus increasing the signal to the convertor. Any thoughts? Thanks for the tip of using the drill as a gauge- simple and perfect. |

The out of the box 2mm setting is for small engines (3L) Most gas fitters don't know this, hence you having trouble finding info.
You'll need to use two vapour lines. What converter are you using? If it's a standard OMVL R90E it'll be pretty marginal on a 427. This is going to sound a bit bodgy BUT, Take the cover off the first stage so you can see the first stage spring. You'll notice that a 20 cent coin fits perfectly in the cover and will raise the first stage pressure and allow more vapour flow. What fittings are you using for the vapour line? Standard off the shelf brass fittings are very restrictive. I often have to mount them in a small lathe and run a drill through them to thin the wall thickness down. |

Hi
Thank you- your suggestions confirmed what I thought was going on. I have welded another housing and machined a second inlet on the opposite side of the original. Also used straight fitting which have been opened up to 1/2mm wall thickness. The convertor is a r90e d8- its much larger that a standard r90e. I shall post the results after its fitted and tuned.
