ive got oil comming out of the rear seal on my t5 gearbox, anyone ever replaced one and where can i get one from?, does anyone know the part number?, its an EL XR6.

Mate I dont know the part number off the top of my head, but basically all you need to do to change it is remove the tailshaft, lever it out with a screwdriver, and bang the new one in nice and evenly and squarely, you can get them from bursons, repco etc and they cost about $15 last time I checked so they are pretty reasonable. They are exactly the same as on the auto transmissions, and 4 speeds in the old XF's etc Gab |

went to repco and they had one there, brand is Kelpro, part no. 97910.
very good quality too. now just gota work out whats the best transmission oil and additive to use.

the way i did it at tafe on my old auto was i got a huge socket as big as the seal, put the seal on and tapped the socket with a soft hammer and it went in square. everythings so much easier with a hoist the lift the car and work overhead with it. i did everything at tafe while i had use of it lol

When you do the seal raise the car from the back not the front, this makes the oil in the gear box go to the front and not the back so when you pull the old seal out you dont have a colosal mess, and you dont get drenched in oil which is neve a good thing.

i repleaced with new oil anyway.
