I'm setting up the heater on my XB 351 with Impco 300 gas system (heater died years ago , just putting a new core in now) - anyway, when I first removed the heater hoses I hooked them straight through to the gas converter and removed the tee fittings that would have originally also sent hoses to the heater. I now want to put tee fittings back in - my question is which way around to install them? Should I have the `straight through' pipe feed to the converter, with the right angle branch feeding the heater, or the other way around, i.e. straight through pipe feeding the heater, right angle feeding ther converter? I'm concerned that I want both the converter and the heater to receive sufficient flow. Thoughts please?

Which ever is the neatest way to run the hoses.

It's not uncommon to see 5/8 heater hose with T fittings in them that have a 3/8 hose running to the converter. 5/8 hose straight through the T to the heater.

In any case the converter really only needs to operate at 50-60c and generally last longer at that temp with less contaminant coming out of the gas. You can buy an inline 'thermostat' to regulate the converter temp down to that range.

Thanks tickford_6 - I just wanted to avoid the converter ever freezing up but as you say it probably doesn't need as much heat as the heater (in any case with the heater valve closed it gets full flow anyway) - cheers, thanks for the response.
