I put in a cluth plate on my firewall so it doesn't crack . So now I've noticed when I push in my clutch in it makes a "tock" noise. I've checked under there and it's not grabbing anything .
It only does it 3 out 10 times . So not everytime . Could it be my clutch cable slipping ? But if it was then my clutch pedal would go closer to the floor . My clutch pedal stroke is fine . It's 140mm from the floor.

Matey, at the top of the clutch cable is a part called a clevis, they can cause weird noises and are prone to pushing apart, there are also bushes that go onto the clutch pedal where the cable hooks to on the clevis they wear. A new clevis part number XC 7664 A $14.60 and the bushes 2 x XF 7B605 A $6.70 each, available from your local Ford dealer. While you are at it, check the movement of the inner cable of your clutch in case the inner part has become frayed. |

I'll replace the clevice and bushes .
I took it apart to get the cable out. I'm sure I put it back together correctly . Thanks for your help .

Worthwhile checking your pedal box is not broken or cracked while you are down there.

Yeah they crack around the pivot for the clutch pedal on the assembly. The other thing it could be is the firewall may have stretched from flexing, repairs (heat from welder), or the crack and it might be the fire wall poping bach and forward. In any case my money would be on the pivot its a common failure point.

I didn't weld it. The plate I made I did weld which slid over the existing sleve for the clutch cable .
Have a look in my build thread . Pics if the plate are near the end . I don't think it's the fire wall flexing as the plate is 3mm thick and 100x100 I'll get someone to press in the pedal while I check if it's flexing .

Pedal box. Does it sound like its inside the cabin but perhaps muffled?

It's inside the cabin but it sounds like it's coming from up near the tweeter ??
My seat creaks sometimes when I press in the clutch but this noise is defiantly coming from underneath the dash ,

I think pedal box. unless you get under there and pull it out, you will never know, the sound can easily travel behind the dash and come out at the tweeter.

I'll replace the clevis and bushes. See how it goes.
Will I need to remove the dash to take out the pedal box? I hate taking out the dash. My dash makes so many noises, I broke most of the brackets which hold it to the chassis/body getting it out Last time. So I need a new dash . It's not heaps loose but has movement .

no the dash can stay, but you need to be a contortionist.

It was a struggle getting the clutch cable off the pedal.
