There's no reason you can't but there is a question of why you would?

Anything is possible. The question is how much time and money you are willing to throw at the project. if ya want a turbo six, why not track down a wrecked B-Series xr6-turbo. same result (turbo six), and yeah it might cost a little more, but you can swap *ALL* The good stuff, and make your own interpretation of a Cortina XR6 Turbo.
Anyway it's just a thought

First, why a 1J? Go straight for it's big brother, the 2J! It can be done if your handy with a welder and a soldering iron. budget $10k minimum.

knowsfords - why not? Its one of the two options I am looking at for my NC.

Well two reasons.
A) He's 18, very likely on his P plates so he can't drive a turbo.
B) It is a whole lot of effort, considering that a falcon 6 would pretty much fall into the bay.

A) It's a dreamer thread, so a bit of it can be done won't go astray, hence me saying $10k minimum.
B) Cortina's run a rear bowl sump setup, so it isn't as simple as it sounds unless you go FG DOHC or 250

even if he went xr6 running gear (B-series or FG) it'd still be a lot of fun to drive.
