i have an exchaser ef falcon and i have been told i might have ABS but i dont know whether i do or not.
can anyone help me to identify if i do or not?

Jam your brakes on and see if the wheels lockup!! No, that's silly...
In the inner gaurd, passenger side front wheel, the ABS module lives. Easy to identify as it has brake lines going into it... See if you have an ABS fuse installed in the fuse panel...

cheers for your help Yes the check light comes on when you initially turn the car on and if yours came up with "ABS" briefly then you have got it.

My friend is a mechanic and he says that the easiest way to tell if a falcon has ABS is to count the number of small metal lines that come off the master cylinder. Models that have ABS have 2 metal lines while models that don't have three. I have activated the ABS in my EF and it has the 2 lines. I have also locked the wheels in my dad's AU and his cylinder has 3.

theres a sticker on the back window just below the center mounted stop lamp . after testing the above methods and checking to see if you have a sticker, its pretty safe to say you got it

sticker was only on EF II's & above though i think - so if its an EF I chaser - no sticker!

uglybob is right. My car is an EF 1 futura and doesn't have the sticker. Must only be on the EF 2.

Even quicker and safer is to open the fusable like box next to the battery. See if there is a link in the ABS slot. If there is, then you get ABS. If there is no fuse, there will be a pin missing in the ABS slot, so there be no ABS there.
Besides, there shouldnt be a question here. GLi's in the EF/EL range are the only ones not to get ABS as standard, so you should never have a problem. I think it was AU2/3 was the first AU model to get ABS as standard on all models, and its been that way since. |

When you lock the wheels the pedal will pulse rapidly under your foot. Always a good idea to try it out on a deserted piece of road. The first time it happens it can be disconcerting.

yeah thanks everyone for your help i have checked it and it looks like i do have it. thanks for your help nice to see that i can still find new things that i have that i didnt even knew i had
