hi guys i have a 97 el falcon that has recently has developed a very strong smell of fuel in the car. when i went to fuel up at the servo i released the fuel cap and there was a lot of pressure build up when released it nearly blew of in my hand. can anyone tell me why this happened and how to fix this issue. also is this the cause for the constant fuel smell in the car. please help!!!!

check your purge cannister in the front passenger side of the bumper is not blocked of leaking.

more then likely the purge solinoid is either un pluged or is not working,

its behind the passenger side headlight just above the chassis rail next to the airbox..

You need too remove the front plastic splash gaurd infront of the left front wheel. Check all the vacuum hoses and the canister isn't contaminated with fuel... cheers..
