I've had a little look around and havent really been able to find what i am looking for, but...
i want to put a dual battery setup in my AUII XR6 ute to play it safe with some audio upgrades that are in the planning... i just want to know how hard it would be to run the power to the tub of the ute? i want to get a plastic welding mob to weld in a custom 'toolbox' to house the dual batteries in a watertight setup along the front edge of the tub... sound like a good idea? or has someone got a better suggestion? eg how big of a battery can i fit in the standard battery housing and would an upgraded alternater combined with this create a resonably safe setup? (keeping in mind i do listen to music while the car of off... like when i am cleaning the car out and stuff)

if you do go for the dual battery system be sure to grab a redarc dual battery isolator that way you dont kill your starting battery if you were in sa I could wire one up for you my perents own a battery shop/workshop

thanks for the offer... but thats a bit of a drive from brisbane haha
is there much to it other than the isolater and obviously extra wearing? like should the second battery be a different type? do the battery recharge a different way? etc...

most will charge the same way i would suggest getting a absorbed glass mat sealed lead acid as they are maintanance free and you could mount them upside down if need be anything over 70amp should be alright to charge from your alternator the isolator should also come with wireing diagrams to help
just be sure to get as much info about the battery as possible if you find a battery you like the look of send me the model number and brand and I can do some research for you |
