Hey, I'm just wondering what this part is, it's in my EF 5 litre V8 (but it's out of my EL donor car) it's mounted behind the washer bottle, and has some vacuumn hoses attatched to it, wiring seems to go to the computer, is it for ABS or cruise control? do I need it?

It's the vacuum switch for the inlet mannifold variable runner lenth. You dont need it as yours is now a v8.

And there seems to be wiring for it in the V8 loom, could it do something different on V8's?

It's the "EVR" or EGR Vacuum Regulator. It controls your EGR valve opening.
The canister is a vacuum storage chamber for it. |
